Welcome to the Hondo Public Library
ONLINE CATALOG General Information The Hondo Public Library is a public facility funded by the residents of Hondo through their taxes. The Library is located on the corner of Avenue J and Highway 90. It is an accredited member of the Texas State Library System and the Alamo Area Library System. The Library collection consists of books, periodicals, audio books, videocassettes/DVDs, newspapers, and other media for all ages, including large print reading material. The collection also includes a local history area, which includes the Hondo Anvil Herald on microfilm. Special collections include the Caregiver's Resource Center made possible by the Alzheimer's Association and the Celebration of Life Collection given in memory of Susan Porter Zuberbueler by the Sigma Tau Sorority. Computers equipped with a high speed (T-1 line) connection to the Internet makes it convenient for patrons to do research, homework, check e-mail, acquire weather reports, analyze stock, etc. The software on the computers allow patrons to prepare flyers, brochures, invitations, etc. as well. Children's programs include Story Time, Baby & Me, and annual Spring Break program and a Back to School program. Highlighting the summer months is the ever popular Summer Reading Program sponsored by the Friends of the Hondo Public Library and Texas State Library. The program begins the last week in May and runs through mid-July. Library tours may be arranged for schools, daycare providers, scout troops, and others by contacting the library at 830-426-5333.
