Friends of the Hondo Public Library

Friends

The Friends of the Hondo Public Library is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization established in appreciation of the role the library plays in the quality of life in Hondo, Texas. It was developed by and for people interested in books and libraries.

Our purpose is to stimulate public interest in the library, purchase library materials, and support other cultural and educational programs. The Friends provide financial and volunteer services to the library and function consistently with the goals and objectives of the Hondo Public Library and its advisory board.

Memberships are available at the Library or by attending a Friends group meeting.

Meetings are held on the last Tuesday in January, April, July, and October in the library Conference Room at 5:30 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Donations

The Hondo Public Library welcomes monetary donations.  Currently, the library, in conjunction with the Friends of the Hondo Public Library, is conducting a capital campaign to build a new library.  Donations to support the library in general should be made out to Friends of the Hondo Public Library, and those donations intended to contribute to the new building project should specify “Building Fund.”

Donations of new and/or used books are also welcome.  New books and those in good condition that are not available in the library’s collection are added to the collection where possible.  Used books and titles that the library already has on hand are given to the Bookmark, the used bookstore in the back of the library.  This bookstore is operated by the Friends and proceeds are used to support the library and its programs.
